Series Description:

SDForum, in conjunction with Astia, is launching its 2008 Clean Tech Breakfast Series for a third year in a row.  You are invited to attend the first breakfast: “Solar Technology – what are the winning technologies? Where will the successes come from?”  to take place March 18th at 8:00 am to 10:00 am in San Francisco,  at the offices of Nixon Peabody at One Embarcadero 18th Floor.  We are pleased to announce that The Clean Tech Breakfast Series is being sponsored by Nixon Peabody and Moss Adams.

Speaker Bios:

James Chapman, Partner Corporate Transactions, Nixon Peabody Mr. Chapman has focused on securities law, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and international business transactions for the past twenty years. Jim has been involved in over 175 mergers, acquisitions, and financing transactions. These transactions have included public offerings, private placements, debt financings, venture capital transactions, stock sales, asset sales, mergers, reorganizations, and recapitalizations.

Eugenia Corrales,VP of Engineering, Solfocus has extensive engineering and operations senior management experience across a variety of product areas, in both large and entrepreneurial companies. Prior to joining SolFocus Eugenia founded SunModular to produce PV products with a focus on overall system performance. Before founding that company she was with Cisco Systems for over 7 years, serving most recently as VP of Product Operations and prior to that VP of Manufacturing Operations and VP of Manufacturing Technology. She was also with Hewlett Packard for 10 years in engineering, development, and
manufacturing roles.

Dr. Kieran F. Drain, President and Chief Executive Officer NanoGram Corporation, Dr. Drain has been President & CEO of NanoGram since August, 2005. NanoGram Corporation, is a leading developer and licensor of core process technology enabling the manufacture of unique nanostructured materials for optical, electronic and energy applications (advanced battery and solar). NanoGram has developed an extensive intellectual property portfolio that is expanding the boundaries of nanomaterials technologies and enabling the development and manufacture of new generations of materials, devices, components and applications across a broad range of industries. The company has a strong position with Global 1000 customer partners, and has raised more than $58M in venture funding since 2006.

Annie Hazlehurst,Analyst, Draper Fisher Jurveston. Annie Hazlehurst is an Analyst at Draper Fisher Jurveston where her primary areas of interest are clean technology and life sciences. Prior to joining DFJ, Annie was an Investment Banking Analyst in Morgan Stanley’s Financial Sponsors Group in San Francisco where she focused on leveraged buyouts and initial public offerings across various industries. Previously, Annie spent a year in Central Southern Africa and Asia working with non-profits on conservation, education and community development initiatives. Annie is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Brown University with a BS in Biotechnology, where she completed a Hughes Fellowship that evaluated private sector development of tissue engineering and stem cell technologies.

Jason Matlof, Battery Ventures He joined Battery in January 2005 and focuses on investments in clean energy, networking and security technologies. Jason is currently a board member at Agito Networks, SmartSpark Energy Systems and SunEthanol, and a board observer at Advent Solar. Before joining Battery, Jason spent more than a decade in management roles at leading technology companies. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Neoteris, which was acquired by NetScreen and then subsequently acquired by Juniper Networks. At Neoteris, Jason was responsible for developing and executing the company’s product strategy and establishing leadership within the emerging SSL VPN product category.

Jennifer McFarlane, Chief financial Officer, Clean Source Power, LLC is an internationally experienced finance executive who has raised over $500 million utilizing a diverse range of structures including project finance, tax exempt asst backed securities, convertible debt, public and private equity, and venture capital. Ms. McFarlane also has significant management and board experience, including at a publicly quoted energy technology company.

Prior to joining CleanSource Power, Ms. McFarlane was CEO of Astia, a San Francisco based non-profit that provides programs to early stage women-led companies. While at Astia, she developed a five year strategic growth plan and doubled the organization in 2 years.
