Speaker Bios:

Kevin Barry, Managing Partner, Schweichler Price & Partners. Kevin Barry has been an executive search consultant for 13 years in the technology sector. Prior to joining Schweichler Price & Partners as a Managing Director in 2004, he played a major role in the success and growth of Pierce & Crow, a highly regarded Bay Area based technology search firm, where he spent close to a decade delivering leading executive talent to many notable venture backed startups as well as publicly traded companies within a variety of technology segments. Break out industry leaders such as Check Point Software (CHKP), Cerent (Cisco acq) and Tivoli (IBM acq) were all clients of the firm.

With a focus on executing searches for CEOs, GMs and Vice President level management, Kevin’s practice serves both the early stage, venture backed startup as well as multi-billion dollar, publicly traded companies. His industry expertise now encompasses all forms of IT infrastructure and software as well as energy/cleantech. Recent clients have included Data Domain (DDUP), SpringSource (Java Development Platform), Pliant Technology (Enterprise Flash Drives), Data Robotics (Makers of the ‘Drobo’), SolFocus (CPV Systems), Soladigm (Electrochromic ‘smart’ glass), and Mascoma (Biofuels). The firm’s master client list includes SunPower (SPWR), Ausra (Solar Thermal), Bloom Energy (Fuel Cells) and Amyris Biotech (Biofuels).

Kevin began his career in technology in the early 1990’s in software sales and marketing at the DAVID Corporation, an enterprise class provider of Risk Management Software that served the F500 and government markets. He has a BA in History from Georgetown University.

Prakash Ramachandran, CFO, Nordic Windpower Ltd. Prakash is a senior finance professional with over 22 years experience. Most recently, Prakash spent 5 years as CFO at Novariant that supplied GPS based machine control products to industrial markets like agriculture and mining. During his tenure at Novariant, the company raised over $40 million in venture equity & debt and closed two key strategic acquisitions and grew the revenues more than 10 fold. Prior to Novariant, Prakash was Head of Finance for 2 years at Sonicity, a software company with multi casting technology for internet streaming and funded by Sony Corp. Previously, Prakash spent 10 years in Hong Kong in various financial roles including 5.5 years as CFO of Sonex Group, where the revenues grew from $100 million to $300 million during his tenure by expanding into a number of new countries in Asia and Latin America.

Prakash has a masters degree in Management from Stanford Business School (Sloan Fellows Program). He is a Chartered Accountant from India and is also a Chartered Management Accountant of U.K.

Steve Reale, General Partner, Levensohn Venture Partners. Steve joined LVP in October 2000 and is focused on enterprise infrastructure and demand-side Cleantech technologies. Steve joined LVP from ZuluSports.com, an Internet-based adventure sports portal, where he was an early employee and Director of Finance. Prior to ZuluSports, Steve held a variety of equity research positions at Robertson Stephens, Van Kasper & Company and JP Morgan, covering a broad range of industries including outsourced financial processors, business services, environmental technologies and services, and retailing.

Since joining LVP, Steve has done significant project work for numerous LVP portfolio companies. He has often led or assisted projects in business development, product marketing, strategic direction and financial exercises. Steve currently serves as a board member at BigFix and Consolidated IP Holdings (CIPH). He is also an unofficial board observer at Akros Silicon, BroadLogic, Capella, and Ubicom.

Kevin Surace – President & CEO, Serious Materials. Mr. Surace is a  leading advocate for addressing climate change through advances in energy conservation in the built environment. At Serious, he has advanced material science in building materials, leading the development of super-insulating windows and the first zero CO2 drywall process, and bringing quiet to dense urban development. He is a sought-after speaker at conferences speaking on worst case climate change and addressing CO2 in the built environment. Prior to joining Serious Materials in 2002, Mr. Surace was CEO of Perfect Commerce, a leading enterprise supply management software company. Prior to Perfect, he was EVP at General Magic where he built the world's largest internet/telephony operations center, serving 3 million users and developing services for partners including General Motors OnStar. Mr. Surace previously served as CEO of Air Communications and WebKnight, and has additional experience with National Semiconductor and Seiko-Epson. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology and has been awarded multiple patents. Mr. Surace also serves on the boards of Cleantech companies FreeLight, ArrayConverter, Zeta Homes and Integrity Block, chairs the City of Sunnyvale Mayoral Green Ribbon Committee and co-chaired the CCTO Building Materials judging panel.
