Topic: The Magic Behind Multi-tenancy
Abstract: How does Salesforce.com's metadata driven multi-tenant Platform support scalable data structure and business logic customization and application development using a common core code base and a shared set of infrastructure?
Agenda:
1. Our multi-tenant religion: everything must be shared including the database; one common code base for innovation and scalability.
2. Metadata-composed applications and the Force.com Application Runtime
3. Salesforce.com patent-pending database and application server technology including the Custom Schema Data Model and multi-tenant query optimizer
4. Managed procedural development via Apex code
Presenter: Craig Weissman is Chief Software Architect at salesforce.com where he has designed and built many aspects of the multi-tenant software-as-as-service development platform. Areas of database scalability include the flexible customer data model, the application metadata layer, the row-level sharing model, and the multi-tenant query optimizer. Craig's focus on the force.com development platform includes designing and authoring the Apex hosted programming language as well as the application distribution model. Craig has a BA in Applied Mathematics and a MS in Computer Science from Harvard University.
