Topic: Spyware - The State of Mobile inSecurity

Abstract: Mobile Application security is a fresh new target formalware and malicious backdoors. The presenter has previously released a fully functional spyware application that exfiltrates any and all personal and private information on a Blackberry device. This presentation will go over the current state of mobile spyware, trojans, and backdoor applications as well dive into the risks that malicious mobile applications pose to the end user population.

Bio: Tyler Shields is a Senior Researcher for the Veracode Research Lab whose responsibilities include understanding and examining interesting and relevant security and attack methods for integration into the Veracode product offerings. In the past, Tyler has worked as a consultant for both @Stake and Symantec, delivering security assessments to fortune 500 companies, major financial institutions, institutions of higher education, and the highest levels of the U.S.government. Tyler has presented at major industry conferences including Shmoocon, H.O.P.E, and SOURCE Boston and released numerous security advisories.

Ryan has over a decade of experience in assisting enterprises with strategic information security project management and advisory services with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and manage teams to align information security and privacy to the business.

His areas of expertise include IT audit compliance (PCI, SOX, WebTrust, SAS-70, ISO27001), systems security, network security, physical security, vulnerability assessment, security operations, monitoring, intrusion detection and incident response.

Prior to LiveOps, Ryan was an independent consultant who's clients included Cisco, VMware, Visa and Google. Ryan has held management and leadership positions at WebEx, Qualys, and the security consulting firm IOActive. He currently hold the CISSP certification, with past certifications including GCIA, CISSP, CCSA and CCNA.

Ames Cornish leads Montebello Partners which he founded in 1997 to provide business strategy, Internet security, and application development services to high-technology businesses.  Clients Ames was the founder, Chief Technical Officer, and President of Vividus Corporation, which was funded by Draper Fisher Jurvetson in 1991, and acquired by Sunburst Communications in 1997. As the product visionary, Ames conceived, designed, and developed Vividus' award-winning multimedia authoring (Cinemation), web authoring (Web Workshop), and children's products (Amazing Animation). Ames has presented at numerous industry conferences, and appeared on national TV and radio broadcasts.  He has been elected to the board of directors for the bay area chapter of Infragard, an FBI-sponsored cyber-security organization.  He is a member of the board of directors of the Software Development Forum (SDForum). Ames holds bachelor's and master's degrees in theoretical physics from Harvard University, and an MBA from Stanford University. Ames is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and certified by Visa for PCI assessments (QSA, QPASP). include Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurial start-up companies, and venture capital firms.
